According to
http://www.traveltex.com "Sealy is a market and manufacturing
center in southeastern Austin County. Anglo-American settlement
began in the 1820s when Stephen F. Austin's colony was founded a few
miles to the northeast. When the railroads arrived they began
shipping produce of local farmers and ranchers. Town was named after
George Sealy, a director of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe
Railroad. The community is rich with its Anglo, Czech, and German
heritage."
Today, Sealy, which is ideally located
at the Intersection of Interstate 10 and State Highway 36, is
experiencing unprecedented growth. Wal-Mart has placed a
"Distribution Center" within the town limits, and has recently begun
construction a "Super Center" to replace its existing store.
Several tracts of land are in the process of being developed on
which new homes will be built. Come reside or visit the City
of Sealy, our welcome mat is always out!
